Dating and Relationship Advice Holding On to Yesterday

by: Izetta Torina

I often wonder how many people live in yesterday’s experience. If holding on to yesterday has brought much sorrow and suffering, then how much time does one spend in remorseful thinking? There is an old saying which states we are what we eat, adding to this we are also what we think. When we only have thoughts of sadness, turmoil, and grief we fall into a place of deep depression, this in turn will cause us to become slow, feeble, and sick. Our very thoughts create our character, and our character produces the very thought within us. In the thought process is where we have creative ability. Our mind is the driver of the whole body, so consequently if I am allowing negative thoughts to always be entertained in the mind; it will do great damage to the physical body over a period of time. Positive and negative energies work in opposition to each other. Positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative, light cleaves to light, and darkness love darkness.

Have you ever walked into room and automatically you’re drawn to an individual? Their presence just seems to light up the whole place. Their energy level is unbelievable, and that causes people to want to associate with them. They have the ability to draw people to them. The vibration they are putting off is exciting because it is positive. A person of such nature is surely a confident individual, one who has hope and understanding that life is a gift from a higher source. Different energy surrounds different people, so if you’re positive you will draw other positive people.

Everyone wants to live in happiness, peace, and joy. Because so much of our internal programming is unconscious, we miss the fact that the most powerful influence we have over how we think comes simply from becoming aware of our own thoughts. The age-old question is – how do I change the way I think? As soon as you begin the pay attention to any function in you, a transformation automatically begins to take place. We must repent (think differently) and be born (be birthed) again to see the kingdom of God. We are directed in God’s Word how this can happen; it happens with the hand of Gods help. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh (human nature, carnal minded) is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit (Holy Ghost, superhuman, divine nature) is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Jn.3; 5-6)

From generation to generation man has tried to figure out how to live and conquer all of life’s problems. Yet man’s mind is still filled with a lot of empty space. It is a scientific fact that we only use 10 percent of our mind. What would happen if we could tap it into the other 90 percent? There would certainly be fewer problems and more solutions to a better lifestyle. One way to make this happen is to stop holding on to yesterday. Healing hurts in the memory of one’s mind takes more than just ones’ imagination. Since we are a three dimensional person, which is body, soul, and spirit, we need to activate faith in our life. Faith Is the Key, which will give new hope to a person in deep distress or any person for that matter. It will give inward certainty and confidence, a steadfast secure stability in one’s life. Faith moves the mountains of fear, doubt, and unbelief. It changes people’s lives from negative to positive; it brings a hope for better tomorrows, and gives a new beginning. Without faith it is impossible to please God, it is also impossible to have any kind of confidence in life itself. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb. 11;1) Through faith our understanding becomes fruitful and begins to multiply, old wounds begin to heal, and yesterday’s heartbreaking experiences begin to fade out of view.

Learn by studying the Word of God what builds your confidence and faith, and take advantage of it. The busier you are, doing, acting, and living by faith the less time you have to think on troubles. Spend your time with people who pick you up and don’t put you down. Say to yourself, yesterday is gone and there isn’t anything I can change concerning it. Repeat this many times so that it is burned into your mind and there is no way you can forget it. You are the only one who can make up your mind and of course this can only come through redemption in Christ, that your life will be fuller and happier in every way. Remember you are what you think, so learn to think in a positive and confident manner. We need faith in God operating in every aspect of our life. Learn how to let go of the past and began to live in today, looking forward to a brighter tomorrow. After all, when we think about it, what is changed by worrying?
